AMBASSADORS OF CHRIST Core Beliefs
Bible
We believe the Bible to be the inspired and inerrant Word of God.
- The 66 books of the Old and New Testaments were inspired by the Spirit of God as originally written.
- The Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
(2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105)
God
We believe in one God, Creator of all, holy, sovereign, eternal, existing in three equal Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- God is spirit, all-knowing, and exists independent of the created world.
- God is impartial and rules with justice and grace.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; John 4:24; 1 Chronicles 29:11-12; James 1:17; Revelation 4:11)
Jesus Christ
We believe in the absolute and essential deity of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- In His eternal existence with the Father and the Holy Spirit in pre-incarnate glory.
- In His work of creation, His virgin birth, sinless life, death, and bodily resurrection.
- In His propitiation for the sins of the world:
- meaning Jesus’s death turned away God’s wrath for our sins and took the judgment upon Himself.
- In His triumphant ascension, mediatorial ministry, and personal return.
(John 1:1-3, 14; Colossians 1:15-20; 1 Peter 2:22-24; 1 John 2:2; Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews 4:14-16; Revelation 22:12-13)
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the absolute and essential deity and personality of the Holy Spirit.
- He convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
- He regenerates, indwells, seals, sanctifies, illuminates, and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ.
- He baptizes believers at conversion into the Body of Christ, bestows gifts as He wills, and fills those yielded to Him.
(John 14:16-17, 26; John 16:7-8; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 13; Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5:22-23)
Mankind
We believe that man was divinely created in the image of God as male and female.
- By the sin of disobedience, Adam and Eve introduced sin to all mankind. (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3)
- All their descendants inherited spiritual depravity and defilement. (Romans 3:23)
- All are guilty before God and condemned to physical and spiritual death. (Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by the sovereign grace of God through faith.
- By the Father’s will, Christ voluntarily suffered a propitiatory death for the world.
- Justification is by faith alone in the all-sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- Those whom God has called will be preserved and ultimately perfected in His image.
(Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16; Romans 5:8-9; 1 John 2:2; Romans 8:29-30; Philippians 1:6)
The Church
We believe the Church is God’s plan for this age.
- It is “the Body of Christ” in which all nations are reconciled as one. (Ephesians 2:14-16; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13)
- It is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, bringing spiritual healing to broken spirits. (Ephesians 2:19-22)
- It is God’s vehicle to bring salvation to all who believe. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-47)
